Remote Biomedical Signal Monitoring Optimized for Mobile Internet Connections

Unimonex provides a built-in remote patient monitoringcapability optimized for low-bandwidth or potentially unstable mobile network connections. Flexible real-time or synchronously delayed remote biomedical signal reception is supported.

A set of native signal streams from different synchronized multichannel medical devices can be acquired, buffered and uploaded for remote monitoring via LAN or Internet network (TCP/IP and a Web-server). GSM/3G/4G modems and local Wi-Fi hotspots can be used.

The monitoring data can be received for visual monitoring, processed and stored on a single or multiple authenticated remote receiving terminals. The reception can be either simultaneous with the remote acquisition process or the data can be downloaded after the acquisition session has been completed.

The received signals can be reviewed and analyzed in Unimonex using any of the online and offline processing tools, the same way locally acquired data is handled. This is possible because Unimonexcan transfer the raw native signal streams, instead of relying on screen-shot bitmaps or derived preprocessed data.

Network Transfer Modes
  • onlinenear-real-timesignal transfer with a minimal delay, allowing lossy data resampling depending on current network state
  • high quality losslessdata transfer with a varying delay depending on the current network bandwidth
  • local high-volume data buffering, deferring upload to some later time
  • server-side data bufferingallowing the receiving terminals to download the data later

At the receiving workstations Unimonex offers either continuous data playback for visual monitoring with a minimized time delay or bulk download for offline processing.

Video Streaming Channel

Unimonex also supports single or multiple video camera channels synchronized with the signal data streams from the medical devices. A video stream can be configured for different resolutions depending on the network conditions. The video stream can be used temporarily, it can be paused or enabled continuously for visual remote patient monitoring.

Data Transfer Format Features
  • multimodal data stream from multiple medical devices
  • dynamic channel selection includes only the data actually required
  • remote device configuration
  • adaptive data compression
  • data encryption when using public connections
